Photography Start-up Flatpebble.com Gets Funding
Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Wednesday, December 04, 2013 — (Business Wire India) — Flatpebble.com, a Hyderabad based start-up has raised an initial round of funding from several seasoned investors. There are a number of products and companies that focus on photos, but Flatpebble is one focused on the photographer.
Flatpebble.com is re-imagining the way India hires photographers for weddings, birthdays, portfolio shoots, fashion, product and other creative services. “The solution we provide helps people view work samples, get detailed quotes and engage a photographer safely on the web. The photographer is also protected.” says Venky Seshadri, Co-Founder and CEO of TechClove Technologies, the company that owns Flatpebble.com.
“Flatpebble has helped me push my creative limits and has helped me bag my first photography assignment. I hope to continue this association for years to come.” exults photo enthusiast Kruthi Bhat.
Traction has been exceptional: across 75 cities in India, 185 jobs for photographers estimated at Rs. 90 lakhs have been processed through Flatpebble in just 4 months. “Our photographer base now covers 175 cities in India with over 800 portfolios and we are adding new profiles at an accelerating pace.” says Pranav Mehta, Co-Founder and CTO.
“Flatpebble.com is an amazing platform for professional photographers seeking creatively satisfying and financially rewarding assignments. The technology is robust, the user interface is fluid, intuitive and user friendly.” states pro-photographer Shashank Mhasawade.
The professional photography landscape in India is fast changing as consumers are willing to spend more to capture their special memories. Wedding photography for example has seen a surge in related spending, prompting many people to now choose photography as a career.
“Flatpebble is solving an important problem and bringing order to a disorganized market” says Raghu Bathina, serial entrepreneur and investor. “The candid photography space alone is a $500 million market in India and it is growing at 25% YOY. Customers need a platform like this where they can choose the best service provider for their needs.”
“I really liked the option of selecting a photographer of our choice and then sending out what is expected of them and checking for the quote. Definitely loved the service and the number of follow ups, just to make sure everything was in place.” says Usha, a customer who finalised her wedding photographer on Flatpebble.com.
The funding will be used to acquire new customers, improve the product and expand the team.
Flatpebble.com (www.flatpebble.com) is an online service that connects photographers with potential clients. It lets the client post a job, which then alerts photographers within the target geography. Then the client receives work portfolios and detailed quote breakdowns before interacting with and choosing a photographer of their choice. The portal also acts as a safe-house for the booking advance, securing both the customer and the photographer. Flatpebble aims to be the best place for photographers to offer their services and the most efficient destination for consumers to find a photographer for their event.
