First batch of Maharashtra Virtual Cadre Announced by Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Maharashtra
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 — (Business Wire India) — Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), has announced names of employees selected for the Virtual IT cadre scheme of Government of Maharashtra. Project Implementation Committee (PIC) has approved selection of 6 employees from different line departments, to be inducted into Maharashtra Virtual Cadre from 1st December 2013. They are from the following departments:
— CM Office (2 employees)
— Agriculture Dept (2 employees)
— School Education Dept (1 employee)
— Finance Department (1 employee)
These employees would function as “IT Champions”, to spearhead various state and central level eGovernance initiatives within their own departments.
Maharashtra would be the first state in India, to rollout such cadre.
About Maharashtra Virtual IT Cadre
Government of Maharashtra is implementing very large number of e-Governance projects across various state departments. In order to ensure successful implementation of these initiatives and sustained development of e-Governance in the line-departments, it is necessary to create strong IT teams within the departments.
Government of Maharashtra has introduced Virtual IT Cadre concept for its Mantralaya based employees wide its GR dated 10th July 2013. This GR is available on Government of Maharashtra’s Website www.maharashtra.gov.in (GR section) with unique ID 201307101356329611 (dated 10th July 2013).
Virtual IT Cadre initiative of Government of Maharashtra aims to create a team of eGovernance champions within line-department. These champions would execute, manage and monitor e-Governance project of the department. This scheme also entitles certain incentives to the selected employee (like 10% hike in Basic salary, etc.). They shall be given extensive training on ICT and eGovernance.
They shall be appointed for initial period of 3 years, subject to yearly review of performance of the candidate in eGovernance. The salary increase can be hiked to 20%, based on the performance review. After initial appointment of 3 years, there shall be cooling-off period of 2 years for the selected employee.
