Cisco Tops the Conferencing and Collaboration Segment at the 2013 Frost & Sullivan India ICT Awards

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Friday, May 17, 2013 — (Business Wire India) — Cisco has won two honors in the Enterprise Infrastructure category at the 2013 Frost & Sullivan, India, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Awards. Cisco bagged the Unified Communications Application Vendor and Video Conferencing Equipment Vendor Awards for the performing year 2012.

Positioned as a single-point vendor for all end-to-end collaboration solutions, Cisco has a strong mindshare as a major vendor offering IP communications, messaging, conferencing and collaboration, and contact center applications, in addition to networking solutions. Cisco’s collaboration portfolio includes a comprehensive unified communications (UC) suite, which covers voice, video, instant messaging (IM)/Presence and other UC applications. Depreciation of the local currency, political/regulatory instability, and reduced spending from the government sector and other key verticals, resulted in 2012 being a lean period for Indian enterprise services and solution providers. Despite the market slowdown, Cisco showed tremendous growth due to its superior business practices.

In CY2012, the UC market in India showed significant growth in the spheres of customer acceptance, technology deployment, innovative portfolios, and a competitive landscape. Cisco emerged as the market leader in this segment with an incredible revenue growth and with the highest market share. The company’s focus on interoperability and its efforts to build solutions on open standards complimented the overall UC experience. In 2012, the company launched Cisco Jabber – a solution that unifies IM, Presence, video, voice, voice messaging, desktop sharing, and conferencing capabilities securely into one client. This can operate on desktops or other mobility devices such as smartphones or tablets. The company also launched a virtualized web conferencing server that can unify audio, video, and web conferencing in a single solution. Cisco has also repositioned its existing products with enhanced features. Keeping in mind the increasing infusion of mobility devices in enterprises, the company has optimized its UC solutions to suit a ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD) environment.

The video conferencing market in India grew 10.3 percent in CY2012 and the adoption of video conferencing solutions in the small and medium business (SMB) segment increased tremendously. Cisco’s focus lies in making video solutions truly pervasive by imbibing mobility, hardware, and software solutions along with cloud-based solutions that will enable the reach of video to everyone. Cisco emerged as the market leader in the video conferencing equipment market in 2012 with a market share of 43.4 percent. The vendor has long-standing partnerships with key telecom service providers for its Telepresence-as-a-Service offerings that cater to large enterprises and SMBs. Cisco witnessed tremendous upsurge in telepresence sales last year and launched a new telepresence product series.

Commenting on the Awards, Minhaj Zia, Director, Collaboration Sales, Cisco India and SAARC, said, “In this post-PC era, successful delivery of the next-generation collaboration experience is not just limited to desktop software, social technologies, or smartphones. It requires a “full-stack” approach with the flexibility to adapt to different environments and use cases with the built-in infrastructure that can provide a compelling user experience and deliver value expected of a true business solution. The Frost & Sullivan ICT Awards underscore our leadership and commitment to meet enterprise-class collaboration requirements and we are extremely proud to receive these Awards.”

While presenting the Awards, Benoy CS, Director, Information and Communication Technologies Practice, Frost & Sullivan, South Asia and Middle East, stated, “Cisco has reinforced its leadership in delivering UC solutions by integrating web, audio, and video in all its existing products and offerings. Its focus on interoperability and open standards has removed the siloed communication practices that existed in the industry. Vertical and horizontal diversity achieved by strong channel partnerships has resulted in Cisco emerging as the market leader in the Indian collaboration services segment.”

The Awards contenders were evaluated based on a variety of parameters like Revenue, Growth, Market Share, Product Diversity, Key Achievements and Go-to-Market Strategy, which involved in-depth primary interviews of various industry participants and secondary research conducted by Frost & Sullivan analysts. An elite panel of jury members comprising some of the most prominent CIOs/CTOs from the industry evaluated the compiled data and incorporated the end-user perspective. Frost & Sullivan then presented the Awards to the companies that received the number one industry rank in each category.
