New Horizons for ThinkDigit.com – Crosses 5million Pageviews Milestone

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Monday, July 16, 2012 — (Business Wire India) — ThinkDigit.com has firmly established itself as India’s leading personal technology portal after crossing the milestone 5million pageviews mark earlier this week. The site registered 5,028,360 pageviews in the month leading up to July 10, according to Google Web Analytics services. ThinkDigit.com is now the most visited and viewed personal technology site in the country.

The 5million pageviews represent an increase of almost double compared with the 3million pageviews ThinkDigit.com had experienced in January 2012, just before the portal’s major revamp in February. The portal further boasts of an increase of more than 130% in the number of visitors per month, with 2.3 million visitors each month.

The leading tech website was re-designed in February, with a new, improved design and interface which provides a more intuitive user experience. New, fresh content sections include video reviews and the “Digit Top 10”, which showcases the best devices across popular categories, such as android devices, tablets and smartphones. Editor Soham Raninga said these had contributed heavily to the site’s massive spike in popularity. “Our decade-plus experience in testing products assists us in generating Top 10 lists of products across multiple categories. Since these products are strenuously tested and evaluated in our test labs, carrying benchmarks scores and comparisons, readers find tremendous value in our Top 10 listings,” Raninga explains.

ThinkDigit.com caters to tech-junkies and prospective buyers alike, with an exhaustive information section that includes mobile phones, ultrabooks, tablets, gaming, apps, media players, home theatres and more. A video gallery, detailed articles and reviews, a buyer’s guide and an ‘Expert Opinions’ section are some of the things that further enhance visitors’ technological experience.

Leaps & Bounds

Started in 2001, ThinkDigit.com has grown in leaps and bounds, especially in the past year, recording a whopping 136.12% growth rate between June 2011 and June 2012. Its presence on social media platforms has also seen a boost, with an increase in Facebook followers from about 53,000 to 92,117 within the past year.

As far as the content strategy is concerned, Raninga takes pride in the fact that the portal strives to “adopt a local focus with a global overview”: “The strategy of analysing every bit of new technology launched in the local context has delivered great results, striking a cord with the community of Indian technology enthusiasts. We try to achieve the right mix of content to target such enthusiasts across a wide spectrum, including developer audiences through Devworx, and serving the gaming audiences with the popular title SKOAR!” he adds.

ThinkDigit.com is the only technology media property in the country with two dedicated test labs. These labs are located in Mumbai and Delhi, and churn out close to 100 reviews every month, advising buyers on their gadget purchases and providing in-depth analysis to early adopters and technology enthusiasts all over India. ThinkDigit.com – and its print version, Digit, India’s most-read tech magazine – are published by niche Delhi NCR-based specialty media house, 9.9 Media, for tech enthusiasts who want to be ahead of the game on the latest consumer technologies, including advice on buying gadgets and their adaptations. The Digit duo’s thriving community includes 30,837 forum members and 92,325 Facebook fans. Digit magazine’s readership has grown from 177,000 per month in 2009 (IRS, R2, 2009) to 240,000 per month.

The synergies with Digit magazine – the most popular tech magazine in the country – have also contributed handsomely by allowing digit readers to extend their bond with the brand, enabling them to communicate, provide feedback and keep abreast of the latest developments in the world of technology. The Digit forum is one of the very first and most respected technology communities in India. Boasting of more than 30,000 registered users from all parts of the country, the forum is a tremendous platform for technology enthusiasts to interact, not only with each other, but also with technology users across India.

9.9 Media Co-founder and Director, Vikas Gupta, said the “5 million milestone” showed the Digit brand’s commitment to being at the forefront of tech advice, news and reviews. “Our community is very demanding about consumer technology and we are happy to provide them with the most up-to-date and detailed information available. This volume of pageviews shows we are hitting the mark in terms of providing a platform for this active and thriving community in India,” Gupta said.

“SKOARing” Higher

So what are the next targets to smash through for ThinkDigit.com? Ranginga says they include launching a mobile website, to capture the demand from handset-users. “Almost 10% of the traffic to ThinkDigit.com is logged via mobile devices – so the mobile website will capture this interest,” he explains. “ThinkDigit Mobile is in its final stages of development and expected to be launched by end of August 2012. It will deliver a customised experience for mobile devices, ensuring better user interface and navigation for a more comfortable user experience.”

Apart from the mobile website, there are plans afoot for some community initiatives like the “Digit Squad” announced last month. “Digit Squad is a premium technology community platform which will fuel deeper engagements for technology enthusiasts to nurture their interests and develop their skills by engaging with Digit editorial teams. Such initiatives, along with customised offerings on multiple platforms (mobile phones, tablets, etc), will be the prime driving factors to help us near our next goal of 10million pageviews,” Raninga said. www.thinkdigit.com/digit-squad/
