Sets the Summer Holiday Mood

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Thursday, April 22, 2010 — (Business Wire India) — — Eight new stylish cameras with exceptional features, latest technology for easy picture-taking and capturing memories during vacations
— Advanced features, cool designs at best affordable prices
— Nikon discloses their marketing spend for the first time, Rs. 62 crores set aside

Nikon India announces the launch of eight new COOLPIX cameras that will make the capture of beautiful images easy and fun. Nikon releases today COOLPIX P100, S8000, S6000, S4000, S3000, L110, L22 and L21and as its summer collection range of compact cameras. These cameras will come in 30 bright and energetic colors to suit color preferences of most of Nikon customers.

Highlighting the philosophy behind launching the latest COOLPIX range, Mr Hidehiko Tanaka, Managing Director, Nikon India said, ” Compact segment for Nikon India has grown double the size last year with our market share increasing from a 6 percent to 13 percent and we expect it to touch 15 percent by close of 2010. Nikon abreast with our consumer’s feedback and changing imaging requirements has always emphasized on technology improvements. Last year Nikon had launched sixteen cameras twelve compact and four SLRs. The new range of our 2010 spring collection includes another set of eight COOLPIX, the best variety at best prices available in the industry.
“We believe the onset of summer as the best time to launch as it corresponds with the vacation season in India. This new offering of the COOLPIX cameras will help our customers gear up their travel plans along with Nikon’s COOLPIX as a companion to help capture memorable and fun filled moments with loved ones. Added Mr. Tanaka”

To popularize the COOLPIX range the company will aim to reach out to its target customers through various communication mediums like in electronic, print advertisements, inshop branding and online space etc. Nikon recently rolled out its first TV commercial “Capture more. Feel more.” on new range of COOLPIX series. The campaign is conceptualized with ‘Capturing refreshing and memorable holiday moments’ as an overlying message. The uniqueness of the TV commercial is that it focuses on simplicity and underlining the basic functionality and utility of compact cameras. Targeted towards the young audience that loves travel and adventure, the strategic intent of the campaign is to promote Nikon COOLPIX brand revolving around the ‘holiday theme’. Nikon projects the marketing spend of Rs.62 crores for the year on ATL and BTL activities for promoting its range of compact and professional cameras. Nikon has plans to scale up the Nikon Zones from 40 to 80 by end of this year to ensure accessibility of its latest products. The dealer base will also be ramped up from 1250 to 1800 across India, with the 29 distributors.

These cameras represent some of the most cutting edge technologies in the market including remarkable features like motion detection, in-camera red eye fix, blink proof function, smile detection, vibration reduction, Nikon’s own best shot selector (BSS), skin softening, face priority, full length HD movie recording, power saving, a Prosumer with 26X zoom and a world’s thinnest 10x zoom compact camera in its category.

The new range of cameras will be priced between Rs. 4,990 to Rs. 24,950. Nikon strives to offer best affordable cameras without compromising on imaging tech- features and quality. The entire range is available in Nikon’s 40 shops-in- shop zones across 25 cities across India.

All eight COOLPIX cameras incorporate Nikon’s world-class NIKKOR lenses, delivering extremely accurate detail and brilliant color, as well as Nikon’s EXPEEDT digital image processing concept, which ensures high-quality pictures with stunning color and sharpness. These features take the guess work out of photography and help ensure every picture is a beautiful picture.
