Amul Milk Sales Crosses 15 Lakh Litres a Day in Delhi and NCR Market: becomes No. 1 Brand

Anand, Gujarat, India, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 — (Business Wire India) — Amul has added another feather in it’s cap by emerging as market leader in the prized Delhi market by overtaking Mother Dairy, Delhi in branded packaged milk segment.

Launched in 2005, Amul Milk has overtaken Mother Dairy Delhi which was established in 1973, by creating an infrastructure to transport, process, pack and distribute 100% fresh milk in a short span of 5 years.

The overwhelming customer response to Amul Milk has been because of the superior fresh milk taste provided by Amul as compared to recombined milk often made from skimmed milk powder and butter oil by most competing brands.

It may be noted that Amul is selling milk at price which is Rs 2 per litre higher than Mother Dairy for Full Cream milk and Re 1 per litre more than Mother Dairy in Toned milk segment.

With this achievement, Amul is now the leader in packaged branded milk segment in top 3 metros of India viz. Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Amul has become the brand of choice of customers due to it’s consistent superior quality which has enabled it to command premium over local brands in all these 3 metros.

Amul Milk sales in Delhi milk market is poised to cross 20 lac litres per day this summer. GCMMF is all set to achieve a growth of 20% in this fiscal year to touch Rs 8000 crore sales turnover.
